The challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth in general can be magnified in a rural setting. Our programs, which build on strengths and resources available in the community, are designed to increase the sense of inclusion and visibility of coastside youth, their families, and allies.
As we carefully move to in-person groups for our parent/caregiver and youth groups, we will follow guidelines in an effort to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. We will use the online group format on those days when we cannot meet in person.

“It’s complex trying to parent an LGBTQ youth. You have logistics of the kid’s actual journey, which are complex in themselves. Then you have a whole set of feelings about who you are as a family and what you thought you were going to have as a life path. Whether it’s coping with logistics or with feelings, it’s extraordinarily helpful to have a peer group to share ideas with, to vent, or just to connect with others on the same journey. More than that, it’s important to have a forum to talk about my own feelings about my LGBTQ youth. I’ve found all of those things through the parent/caregiver program. It’s really helped!”
