“It’s complex trying to parent an LGBTQ youth. You have logistics of the kid’s actual journey, which are complex in themselves. Then you have a whole set of feelings about who you are as a family and what you thought you were going to have as a life path. Whether it’s coping with logistics or with feelings, it’s extraordinarily helpful to have a peer group to share ideas with, to vent, or just to connect with others on the same journey. More than that, it’s important to have a forum to talk about my own feelings about my LGBTQ youth. I’ve found all of those things through the parent/caregiver program. It’s really helped!”
“My husband and I were excited to learn about the CoastPride Agin’ Well group, because the LGTBQ community on the coast is smaller (despite the proximity to San Francisco), and the pandemic interfered with nearly all social contact for 3 years. Since beginning to attend the gatherings and events, we’ve met a vibrant and interesting local community and established new friendships. We have enjoyed the prior events and look forward to many more in the future. Thanks for organizing and rallying the coastal LGBTQ community!”
